Title: Wildflower Bouquet – Fine art print

Wildflower Bouquet is a beautiful, fun and vibrant contemporary floral painting created using a bold palette of both oil paints and oil pens on a background of softly balanced acrylic tones. There’s a lovely balance of delicately painted petals, illustrative outlines and wild botanical movements. The overall composition provides a bold statement of pure joy, comprising of decorative dahlias, illustrative sunflowers, freehand squiggly poppies and wild botanical movements. I left some of the petals transparent intentionally as it gives a contemporary quirkiness and sass, and my signature style bring the perfect level of abstract floral goodness. I loved creating a rough configuration of flowers, adding a fair amount of detail, then just before it becomes too perfect and detailed, rough it up with my thin nozzled tubes of oil paint that are slightly thinned out to provide the ideal consistency for ease of movement, both gliding and dripping across the canvas. More detail is then added, layering it up over time.

I wanted to create a vibrant wildflower bouquet painting, something fun, bright and quirky. I’ve always loved wildflowers, they remind me of fun sunny days out and about with my husband, going for long walks, adult picnics and no worries (before we became parents), carefree and wild. The bouquet element is a symbol of thanks, love and joy our marriage has brought me over the years. A symbol of forever and happiness which is also what I believe art should bring to its audience.

Hi, I'm Jess aka the Navy Sloth. I'm a part time artist and full time mum of two beautiful little girls. I paint as often as my limited spare time allows and love every second of it. I'm based in Cardiff, and paint in my little studio within our home. It's my little corner where I can switch off for a few hours and just be my creative self (it's meant to be a toy free zone but somehow they have crept in slowly - you know how it is!)

I create semi abstract wildflower paintings on canvas, combining my illustrative skills with a bold abstract style. My work is vibrant, fun and full of texture, perfect to add a splash of colour to any wall!
