This is Wildflower Party. It’s a semi abstract oil painting on canvas. This vibrant and quirky piece of art would definitely brighten up any wall and no doubt become a favorite talking point. It’s got it all going on, a bright palette, texture galore and a contemporary wildflower theme. Slightly illustrative, slightly stencilized, slightly cosmic and a whole lot of my signature style.
I began this painting by creating the most vivid tangerine sky possible using high quality oil paints in my favourite shades. I applied the paint nice and thick with a palette knife. I love the way the paint glides around the canvas, creating the most wonderful texture and movement lines. For the bottom half of the canvas I opted for a fun fushcia colour which works well with the orange tones above. As soon as the paint was dry, I added the larger detailed wildflowers, the blue craspedia provide a lovely contrasting colour to the background, while the subtle delicate tones of the dahlia and Dainty Bess rose add a sophistication and gentleness, all perfectly balanced with scattered fresh white daisies. Then came the extra fun part, where I added oil paint droplets in a wild carefree manner. Once dry I finished with my signature style abstract florals and added the remaining paint droplets for extra depth.
The end result is the perfect floral artwork for anyone looking to add a splash of colour to their walls.

I'm based in Cardiff, and paint in my little studio within our home.
