Title: Wildflower Celebration – Fine art print

Wildflower Celebration was created in the summer of 2024.The sky was blue and the sun was shining. I had breakfast in the studio (which is actually the conservatory), it was lovely and warm in there, the doors were open and a lovely cool breeze kept me cool. My mind wandered as I gazed up at the sky, and as I closed my eyes and begun to relax for a moment a rainbow of moving dots filled my closed eyelids as if a kaleidoscope had replaced them and all I could see was a blurred celebration of colour. I’d begun painting wildflower pieces 6 months previously and was keen to create more. I excitedly finished my coffee and had a lovely few hours trying to recapture the experience on canvas.

The background was created using a palette knife to drag the oil paint around the canvas, creating movement and texture. This was then left to dry before continuing. Once dry, I used thin nozzled tubes with thinned oil paints and added the wild, carefree grass, then added my first section of oil paint droplets to provide my abstract florals. This is also put aside to dry once more. Then I used the nozzled tubes to create my signature style wildflower outlines and add more oil droplets. The end result is a fun vibrant piece, bursting with colour and texture with abstract wildflowers that dance across the canvas. There’s a sense of excitement and festivity from the chaotic paint splashes that form this floral frenzy.

Artist Bio:
Hi, I'm Jess aka the Navy Sloth. I'm a part time artist and full time mum of two beautiful little girls. I paint as often as my limited spare time allows and love every second of it. I'm based in Cardiff, and paint in my little studio within our home. It's my little corner where I can switch off for a few hours and just be my creative self (it's meant to be a toy free zone but somehow they have crept in slowly - you know how it is!)

I create semi abstract wildflower paintings on canvas, combining my illustrative skills with a bold abstract style. My work is vibrant, fun and full of texture, perfect to add a splash of colour to any wall!
