Artwork Description:

Title: Daydreaming

The inspiration for this piece came from wanting to experiment with painting translucent flowers on a black background. I thought the black was quite strong, and I softened it with violet.

The painted flowers had a dreamlike quality, which gave me the idea of someone having restful daydreams. This is a mixed media artwork, using acrylic paints, watercolours, oil pastels and fabric and paper collage on board. I used a limited palette of violet, Mars black, cadmium red and gamboge.

I am a self-taught artist and always happiest with a pencil, camera or paintbrush in my hand!

I love to look for slightly quirky or unusual image or views.

I work and create either in my studio or outside, with graphite pencils, mixed media collage and my camera.
