Artists Bio:
Landscape, Seascape and Cloudscape painter.
I trained in Fine Art Drawing, Painting and Sculpture in Wales before returning home to finish my BA (Hons) degree in Derby. I now live and work in the Derbyshire Dales on the edge of the Peak District.
Big, moody, atmospheric, skies are common in my paintings.
Working in oils, I enjoy the techniques of impressionism and tonalism. I love being out in nature and aim to convey a particular mood or atmosphere in each painting. I regularly paint plein air; all of my paintings start outside in nature.
In the studio, I use my outdoor sketches as a starting point. For me, this is where the magic begins.
Through blended layers of translucent paint, bolder brushwork and thick, impasto knifework expressively worked into the foreground, I create poetic artwork that would make a beautiful addition to any interior.
