Artists Bio:
I have been a self-taught artist for many years, and I am always happiest with a pencil, camera or paintbrush in my hand!
I’m lucky to live in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales and I love walking in the hills. Other places I love to walk are the Scottish Highlands and Islands, and the magical island of Lindisfarne. My meanderings in these wonderful places are inspiration for many of my photographs and graphite drawings. I love to notice quirky, dramatic or unusual perspectives or views, and you will see some of these captured in my work.
Art is a journey – I am always learning, developing and experimenting. I’m developing my skills in mixed media work, learning from the masters such as Gustav Klimt and Egon Shiele. My mixed media pieces always begin with a drawing, and I also use acrylic paints and inks, paper collage pieces, watercolours, fabric, water soluble coloured pencils – anything in fact that can create the texture and colours I am looking for! It’s a creative and fun way to develop ideas and images. I like to create narrative art, that tells a story – and I love colour, so there is usually lots of this in my work!
