Artists Bio:

Hi my name is Rachel – welcome to my world of mandala.
My art journey began during the pandemic – like most i had time on my hands and I knew I had to find something to fill my time whilst keeping my creative mind focussed.
I was approached by a very special friend who works for the NHS to see if i would be able to paint some little handheld stones to give to patients to provide a little comfort and positivity at a very difficult time.  I didn’t hesitate however I did not realise at the time that what started as something to help others, helped me in so many ways.
Painting hearts and rainbows led the way to me finding mandala art.
Mandala is a Sanskrit word which literally means “circle”.  They are spiritual symbols typically designed in a circular format they usually have repetitive patterns, shapes and colors that all radiate from the center point. Because of this they are well known for their meditative purposes and are said to focus the mind, aid concentration and alleviate stress.
I found my style, dot mandalas, patterns developed using nothing but dots in multiple sizes.
I use only two colours in my works add layers to create real depth allowing the patterns to really come alive.
Each piece can take up to 200 hours to create, to me that is 200 hours of calm and relaxation which i hope is given to those who appreciate my art on their walls at home or work.
