Artists Bio:
My name is Simone Crossland, a Yorkshire artist and founder of Too Nice To Use, my little shop/studio and gallery in the World Heritage site of Saltaire. I am an abstract floral landscape artist.
A professional artist for fourteen years I have sold work in local galleries and art markets. I also produce my own range of homeware and greeting cards. I work in acrylic mostly on a square format creating bright and colourful artwork. I love working on larger canvases so I can enjoy the freedom of dripping and flicking the paint allowing expressive mark making. My work is designed to bring joy and happiness to your space using explosions of colour. My art is bright and ballsy and designed to make you smile.
My passion for art came from my dad. An art enthusiast himself he taught me to draw from a young age and encouraged me to paint, draw, chalk whenever I could. And so I did. Whether it was on paper or the patio or the brick wall at the side of our house, the passion began. On leaving school I studied at Wakefield Art College learning new techniques and discovered the amazing work of Gustav Klimt.
My influence comes from nature, my dads colourful garden and the artist Gustav Klimt.
