Title: A Few Steps Home

Oil Painting Original Size – 52x41cm

There are occasions when home seems so far away, and the journey will take forever to get there.  In this painting I wanted to create a sense of knowing the journey had been long but was now at an end.  The house itself is eerie and haunting, proving that what’s on the outside doesn’t always reflect what’s on the inside and home is at the heart.

The terrain is gently sloping and painted in rich purples and cool pinks, with a rough texture that gives the land a tactile quality. I have used sand and other artifacts to give the piece an individual feel.

Artist Bio:
I live in the beautiful village of Carsington in Derbyshire.

My work focuses on creating atmospheric and textured landscapes, but I also create large abstract art pieces.

I am inspired by my surroundings and the fauna and flora of my local reservoir.

My abstract pieces are created with instinct and emotion, always focusing on the drama and intrigue a piece can portray.  Each piece is lovingly crafted, taking care to ensure the mood of a piece is captured through the use of harmonious and contrasting colours.
