As One is a semi abstract seascape depicting a surf girl standing on the shoreline, gazing out over a turquoise ocean. Her body is only partially defined, as she almost dissolves into the sea. The blurring of the boundary between her and the ocean symbolises her unity with the rhythm and energy and the water and creates an ethereal, almost spiritual atmosphere. I wanted the overall effect to convey a sense of being as one with nature, as if the surf girl is both human and ocean.

Artist Bio:
The unspoiled beauty of the Cornish coast—where the land meets the vast expanse of the Atlantic—has been a constant source of inspiration for me. I am drawn to the sea and feel its magnetic pull deeply. As a committed thalassophile, (someone who loves the ocean and finds calm and peace being close to the sea - this definitely sums me up!) I am often found on the beaches, cliff tops, coastal paths and shoreline of Cornwall, soaking up the ever changing skies, dramatic cliffs and rolling waves. My artwork seeks to communicate my emotional response to the colours, patterns and textures of the coast and to evoke a sense, for the viewer, of being immersed in this natural environment.
