Title: Bourne Mill

I created this little ink and watercolour piece of Bourne Mill in Colchester, Essex, as part of an art demonstration in 2024.

A beautiful working watermill protected by the National Trust, in a snowy wintery scene.

This painting is the “December” image featured in my Essex Illustrations calendar for 2025.

Artist Bio:

Kathryn Cooper is a British artist from Essex, with a passion to create all kinds of original art in ink and watercolour. Including abstract art, surface pattern design, landscapes and urban sketches.

In 2022 she set up a small business called KC Sketches, specialising in house and building portraiture. She enjoys creating  charming commissioned pieces for customers of their homes, wedding venues, business/commercial buildings and a variety of other places with sentimental meaning.

Kathryn spent several years living close to the breath-taking scenery of County Wicklow in Ireland. Those awesome views have been a strong inspiration in creating her miniature watercolour abstract landscapes. These are expressive and intuitive paintings, mostly in a palette of blues and browns. Many of them feature dramatic and stormy skies.
