Artist Bio:
Rachel Cross a dot Mandala artist from Oakwood, Derby.
Mandala is a Sanskrit word which literally means “circle”.  They are spiritual symbols typically designed in a circular format they usually have repetitive patterns, shapes, and colors that all radiate from the center point. Because of this they are well known for their meditative purposes and are said to focus the mind, aid concentration and alleviate stress.
Dot mandala is a form created, as suggested, with nothing but thousands of dots.
Using only two colours layers are added to create real depth allowing the patterns to really come alive.
Each piece can take upto 200 hours to create, to me that is 200 hours of calm and relaxation which i hope is given to those who appreciate my art on their walls at home or work.
