Title: Drifted Silence

Oil Painting Original Size – 61 x 46cm

As a child I used to go fishing with my father, and although this boat does not resemble any we went out in, I wanted to relive a little of that childhood.

This painting is of a  small rowboat resting on a shoreline, waiting for tide once more.

I have used muted colours, know my love of shade and soft ochres, giving the entire composition a subdued, melancholic atmosphere.

In the distance, a faint, blurred treeline stretches across the horizon, silhouetted in shadowy blacks and greys. Above, a pale sun  glows through a dense, overcast sky, casting a diffused light across the scene.

The overall mood is quiet and introspective, evoking themes of solitude, waiting, or perhaps the passage of time. I have used sand to add texture and minimalism effectively to create a sense of isolation and stillness.

Artist Bio:
I live in the beautiful village of Carsington in Derbyshire.

My work focuses on creating atmospheric and textured landscapes, but I also create large abstract art pieces.

I am inspired by my surroundings and the fauna and flora of my local reservoir.

My abstract pieces are created with instinct and emotion, always focusing on the drama and intrigue a piece can portray.  Each piece is lovingly crafted, taking care to ensure the mood of a piece is captured through the use of harmonious and contrasting colours.
