Title: Echoes of the Ocean

Oil Painting Original Size – 61 x 46cm

Living right next to Carsington Reservoir means I am able to get out and about and watch the sailing and fishing boats come and go.  This painting represents the imagery of a lonely boat after the fishing has completed, and bring to mind that these activities don’t just happen in reservoirs but also in the vast seas and oceans.  This painting is of a  small rowboat resting on a vast, desolate shoreline. The colour palette is dominated by muted tones of greys, umbers, and soft ochres, giving the entire composition a subdued, melancholic atmosphere.

In the distance, a faint, blurred treeline stretches across the horizon, silhouetted in shadowy blacks and greys. Above, a pale sun  glows through a dense, overcast sky, casting a diffused light across the scene.

The overall mood is quiet and introspective, evoking themes of solitude, waiting, or perhaps the passage of time. I have used sand to add texture and minimalism effectively to create a sense of isolation and stillness.

Artist Bio:
I live in the beautiful village of Carsington in Derbyshire.

My work focuses on creating atmospheric and textured landscapes, but I also create large abstract art pieces.

I am inspired by my surroundings and the fauna and flora of my local reservoir.

My abstract pieces are created with instinct and emotion, always focusing on the drama and intrigue a piece can portray.  Each piece is lovingly crafted, taking care to ensure the mood of a piece is captured through the use of harmonious and contrasting colours.
