Title: Elvaston Boat House

Partly painted from life where I set my easel under the shade of the trees. Completed in the studio from a photograph. An acrylic painting of the boat house at Elvaston Castle. Thanks to a trick of the light and a breeze disturbing the surface of the water, the reflection seemed spookily at odds with the actual building.

Hello, I'm Ruth. My main inspiration is the human figure - from life, photos or the imagination. Loving the countryside of Derbyshire and Northern France, too. I quit art school many years ago but never stopped drawing and painting. I'm currently Vice Chairman of Derby Sketching Club where we love getting together to draw from life.
