Artwork Description:

Title: Essaouira

‘Essaouira’ brings together the bright colours and blinding light found in the enchanting city of Essaouira, Morocco, alongside the geometric design of the architecture found over there and most Moroccan cities. There is order within chaos and the vibrant colours bring a sense of pleasing harmony. The city, by Atlantic Ocean, has a bustling medina, a labyrinth of vibrant tapestry of colours, sounds, and scents that beckons us to explore its hidden treasures. The aroma of spices is depicted by the subtle touches of yellow, filling the air with a sense of excitement and intrigue. But amidst the hustle and bustle of the medina, there is also a sense of serenity to be found – a tranquil oasis where time seems to slow down and the worries of the world fade away.  Through this picture, we embark on a journey to depict the essence of Essaouira, capturing the spirit of this coastal haven through the lens of imagination.

Artist Bio:
Morgane is a contemporary painter based in the Carshalton, South London who takes her inspiration from her surroundings and her emotions. She is inspired by landscapes and enjoys simplifying what she sees into blocks of colours. Her aim is to bring the viewers along with her on a discovery of feelings and moods, exploring the nature and compatibility of different forms, shapes and colours, and enabling the viewer to reflect on life’s wonders and struggles. She says: “As a child, I always preferred to draw rather than use words, something I have kept with me all my life. I enjoy helping people see things differently through visuals.” Morgane mostly uses acrylic but also enjoys other mediums such as oils, watercolours, pastels, graphite, collage etc, which she sometimes mixes.
