Title: Fishing at Dawn

Oil Painting Original Size – 52x41cm

I used to love fishing with my dad, and this boat resembles a boat we named ‘Orangina’ – like the drink.  I chose not to make the boat orange on this occasion.  We would go fishing first thing in the morning and come back for lunch.  My dad still fishes now on Carsington Reservoir, which is where I live.

I have chosen a rather bright colour palette for this piece, of yellow hues and contracting the boat in white.  This a tranquil feeling before the people board the boat and go fishing.

I have used sand and other materials to give the texture it evokes, with an emphasis on texture and mood rather than detail.

Artist Bio:
I live in the beautiful village of Carsington in Derbyshire.

My work focuses on creating atmospheric and textured landscapes, but I also create large abstract art pieces.

I am inspired by my surroundings and the fauna and flora of my local reservoir.

My abstract pieces are created with instinct and emotion, always focusing on the drama and intrigue a piece can portray.  Each piece is lovingly crafted, taking care to ensure the mood of a piece is captured through the use of harmonious and contrasting colours.
