Title: Flight of the Ghost

This acrylic painting captures a creature long associated with mystery and myth across the British countryside, the barn owl. I wanted to honour the eerie elegance of the way these birds fly through darkness.

In English folklore, barn owls were often called “ghost owls” or “white ghosts” due to their pale plumage and near silent flight. Glimpses of them gliding through the night inspired tales of spirits, omens, and the otherworldly.
