Artwork Description:

Title: Garden of Dreams

This painting is built up of layers. There is a fabric background to which acrylic paint has been applied. The absorbent nature of the fabric and paper mean the paint has a transparency in areas allowing a depth of colour to be built. The natural handmade paper it has been painted on is an important part of the piece and can be seen in it’s ‘unfinished’ edge.

It is a feast of colours, including neon pinks, bright, fresh greens, turquoise blues and dark greens.

There are abstract shapes and organic marks which pull the painting together.

If you look closely you’ll also see I used a music sheet in the background.

Whilst I like my paintings to be left open to interpretation, there’s no denying this looks like a mountain scene!

Artist Bio:
My art is all about colour.

Colour is such a powerful tool to draw the viewer in. It sets a mood, invites imagination and brings joy. I draw my inspiration from the countryside around me but I work almost entirely intuitively. To do this, I start by covering my surface with collage. This can be papers, book pages, music sheets, fabric.....the list is endless. I arrange these on the canvas, stick them down and then paint on the top using acrylic paint.

I paint flowers in various forms. Some are easily recognisable flower forms and others are more abstract. I combine these with pattern and marks, filling every inch with something to see!

I never know how a painting will turn out but that I believe is what makes my art so unique! The fresh energy in each piece makes them truly special!
