Title: Losehill

Walk up the Siggate out of Castleton, not only will you see splendid views across the Hope Valley but also the rather wonderful cement works, formerly Earl’s Cement, once the workplace of large numbers of working class Valley folk.  Sadly this exact view is now partially obscured due to the number of saplings that have now been allowed to grow in front of the viewer, however it’s still worth climbing through the cathedral of tall trees to emerge at the first corner to be rewarded with this vista.

Artist Bio:

Hazel is a painter and art tutor living in Derbyshire, and enjoys capturing the varied local landscapes in acrylics and oils, with many completed on-location. Her paintings explore the subtle changing moods of the seasons, from quiet unassuming landscapes, dramatic sunlit views or forgotten corners off the beaten path. Available for workshops and demonstrations, commissions also undertaken.
