Title: Pansy

The original is the first in a series of watercolour illustrations of pansies or Viola tricolour. The various colours and patterns make them such cheerful and interesting flowers to study and paint.

They symbolise loving thoughts and remembrance; in Victorian England, they were given as an expression of secret love.

Artist Bio:

Diana is a botanical artist based on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, a beautiful location that provides her with inspiration in abundance. As the seasons change, she studies and depicts the newly emerging plants and flowers that appear along the clifftops and in her garden.

Diana works mainly in watercolours and ink as she finds this subtly emulates organic structures and form.
