Artwork Description:

Title: Rain is Confetti from the Sky

I chose this title because it’s perfect for this painting. The sky is dark and gloomy, ready to spill its ‘confetti’ on to the colourful flowers below! The colours I have chosen for the flowers remind me of celebrations where confetti would be used too!

I have used neon pinks, vivid greens and turquoise with parts of indigo blue helping to make these colours sing!

This is a very textured painting. The canvas was first covered in collage largely consisting of tissue paper which wrinkles when wet leaving a lovely tactile surface to paint on.

I then painted on top of this surface with acrylic paint adding flowers and leaves. There are drawn elements too which sit right on the surface adding depth to the flowerbed.

A really evocative piece that would look stunning framed!

Artist Bio:
My art is all about colour.

Colour is such a powerful tool to draw the viewer in. It sets a mood, invites imagination and brings joy. I draw my inspiration from the countryside around me but I work almost entirely intuitively. To do this, I start by covering my surface with collage. This can be papers, book pages, music sheets, fabric.....the list is endless. I arrange these on the canvas, stick them down and then paint on the top using acrylic paint.

I paint flowers in various forms. Some are easily recognisable flower forms and others are more abstract. I combine these with pattern and marks, filling every inch with something to see!

I never know how a painting will turn out but that I believe is what makes my art so unique! The fresh energy in each piece makes them truly special!
