Artwork Description:

Title: The Village Green

Oil Painting Original Size – 51 x 41cm

Recently we held a mini festival on the village green in Carsington.  This is what inspired me to paint a happy yet rather sombre village scene under a  misty sky.

The colour palette is dominated by muted tones of greys, purples, and subdued greens giving the melancholic  atmosphere. The houses feel happy and almost like they are chatting amongst themselves,  I do hope you can see something in this painting too.

I have used sand and other materials to give the texture it evokes. My artwork combines impressionistic and surreal elements, with an emphasis on texture and mood rather than detail.

Artist Bio:
I live in the beautiful village of Carsington in Derbyshire.

My work focuses on creating atmospheric and textured landscapes, but I also create large abstract art pieces.

I am inspired by my surroundings and the fauna and flora of my local reservoir.

My abstract pieces are created with instinct and emotion, always focusing on the drama and intrigue a piece can portray.  Each piece is lovingly crafted, taking care to ensure the mood of a piece is captured through the use of harmonious and contrasting colours.
