This abstract piece radiates a sense of tranquillity and serenity, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a dreamlike seascape. The artwork seeks to portray the calming energy of the ocean and communicates my own sense of well being when immersed in this environment. The broad horizontal bands of turquoise, weaved through with accents of gold, evoke distant horizons and the crystal clear Cornish waters which shimmer under golden rays on a summer’s day. I wanted the piece to convey a sense of warmth and relaxation whilst prompting memories of laying on white sandy shores, lapped by gentle, frothy waves. Artist Bio:
The unspoiled beauty of the Cornish coast—where the land meets the vast expanse of the Atlantic—has been a constant source of inspiration for me. I am drawn to the sea and feel its magnetic pull deeply. As a committed thalassophile, (someone who loves the ocean and finds calm and peace being close to the sea - this definitely sums me up!) I am often found on the beaches, cliff tops, coastal paths and shoreline of Cornwall, soaking up the ever changing skies, dramatic cliffs and rolling waves. My artwork seeks to communicate my emotional response to the colours, patterns and textures of the coast and to evoke a sense, for the viewer, of being immersed in this natural environment.
