Artwork Description:

Title: Falling Leaves

My inspiration for this picture was Autumn. I love the colours, all the rusts, browns, yellows, oranges, gold. I love the exhilarating feeling of walking on a sunny autumn day, with the wind in my hair and the leaves falling around me. Don’t we all love kicking leaves? Right now my garden is carpeted with leaves of all hues and shades and it is beautiful(if a little muddy) The other thing I love doing is looking at the patterns in the bark of a tree. Every tree is unique and the tree trunks of my tree collection demonstrate this perfectly.

As with the other trees I have painted, I use a combination of techniques to encourage the ink to flow and move where I want it. Sometimes the ink just creates incredible, shapes and patternsĀ  I’m not expecting; the beautiful swirls and curls in this picture happened as the ink was drying. I love it when that happens (most of the time anyway)

Artist Bio:
I paint vibrant and quirky nature-inspired abstracts, uplifting landscapes, effervescent still lifes, as well as, fantasy worlds, planets and waterscapes. I use primarily alcohol-based inks on Yupo or Nara paper, which is waterproof, enabling the inks to move around. Inks are a fluid medium, although I occasionally branch out into some mixed-media artwork. My art captures moments of joy, peace and reflection in the world around me.
