Artwork Description:

Title: Night Swimmer

I imagine a group of intrepid night- swimmers catching the lights as they head home, or even better still, observing the spectacle from a lake, river or sea. That would be my dream! There’s a hint of aurora in this piece and the excitement and joy of observing spectacular colours dancing across the night sky. There’s a lot of movement and complexity within this image. I love the fact that individuals often see different images in my art. I have had people turn this picture, to create a sunrise over hills, but it’s up to you. That’s perfectly fine with me! What do you see?

I created this with waterproof paper and alcohol ink, as well as isopropanol to help the colours move and mix.  I used a variety of tools to create the atmosphere and colour blends I wanted. The inks did the rest, which is the wonderful thing about them. As they dry there can often be unexpected surprises.

Artist Bio:
I paint vibrant and quirky nature-inspired abstracts, uplifting landscapes, effervescent still lifes, as well as, fantasy worlds, planets and waterscapes. I use primarily alcohol-based inks on Yupo or Nara paper, which is waterproof, enabling the inks to move around. Inks are a fluid medium, although I occasionally branch out into some mixed-media artwork. My art captures moments of joy, peace and reflection in the world around me.
